You are passionate about developing commercial opportunities for renewable energy projects in the U.S. You enjoy a challenge, possess in-depth knowledge of financial models and structures for renewable energy projects, and, above all, would like to work as part of a dynamic team for a rapidly expanding company.

Your skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area, MBA preferred;
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience in power, utilities, and renewable energy at a top-tier utility, investment bank, management consulting firm, or private equity/venture capital fund;
  • Trained financial modeler with a high degree of comfort manipulating existing financial models and the ability to build from scratch. Comfort interpreting legal contracts (commercial agreements and financing documents) and identifying their impact on the pro forma;
  • Excited about building complex financial model;
  • Self-motivated, energetic, curious and thoughtful disposition;
  • In-depth knowledge of the development of the renewable energy industry and the energy market in the US, including the tax equity market;
  • Strong proficiency in English (spoken and written) and excellent communication and influencing skills, with ability to present complex, technical topics to internal and external audiences of various sizes and knowledge levels;
  • Good command of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.);
  • Self-sufficient and attentive to detail;
  • Able to work under pressure and to manage a number of files simultaneously with short deadlines;
  • Able to work as part of a team and establish good relationships using tact and diplomacy;
  • Meticulous, versatile, creative and resourceful;
  • Concerned with confidentiality and corporate image, and a keen interest in current events and the public and political spheres.

Your challenge

Reporting to the General Manager, Commercial Execution, your role and responsibilities as Analyst, M&A, in New York will be as follows:

  • Assist in screening opportunities to determine whether they are in-line with Boralex’s investment criteria;
  • Build and establish efficient financial model templates for various renewable energy transaction structures;
  • Expeditiously build detailed financial models from scratch to evaluate transactions under tight timing constraints that is usual in an M&A process;
  • Be responsible for performing complex financial analysis (e.g., discounted cash flow, precedent transactions, comparable companies, proforma earnings accretion/dilution and proforma credit analysis) to evaluate selected opportunities;
  • Assist with internal due diligence and cooperate closely with internal Boralex teams including finance, accounting and tax, technical and engineering, construction, legal and operations;
  • Collaborate in preparing letters of intent, investment proposals and any other documents required to conclude investment transactions;
  • Identify the main investment risks and suggest ways of mitigating them;
  • Participate in preparing and presenting files to senior management.
